The lateral shuffle drill is a great way to improve lower body quickness and agility. It is also a good way to enhance lateral movement. It is advised to slowly run through and practice the lateral shuffle at first. Once you get comfortable with the drill, you can increase your foot speed. Ultimately, the aim is to shuffle as quickly as possible.
Begin with your hips square. Shuffle through the ladder by stepping with both feet in each square. Try to keep your head straight. Avoid looking down at the ladder as much as possible. Your back should remain erect during the lateral shuffle. Avoid bending over as you move down the ladder. Be sure to stay on your toes at all times.
